The José Simeón Cañas Central American University (UCA, 1965) is the Jesuit-run private university of El Salvador and one of the most prestigious in Central America. 🕯️ Honest context (documented, attributed): on 16 November 1989, during the civil war, six Jesuit priests of the UCA, their housekeeper and her daughter were murdered on the campus; the UN Truth Commission for El Salvador attributed the killings to the Salvadoran Army. Recorded factually and with the gravity this history demands, consistent with how institutions' own histories are documented elsewhere in AlmiStudy.
Always confirm a university's current accreditation with
the named national authority, and that the qualification is recognised in
the country where you intend to use it, before enrolling or paying any
fees. AlmiStudy records information to help you check — it is not an
endorsement.
Why this is free
AlmiStudy is part of AlmiWorld. It is free because its purpose is to
help people find their way to education — and the wider project
supports the Shamool Foundation, a free school for street children in
Lahore (60 students, lunch, books and uniforms provided).
