Founded in 1477 by Count Eberhard V of Württemberg, the University of Tübingen is one of Germany's oldest universities and Württemberg's principal university. Approximately 28,000 students. **11 Nobel laureates** affiliated including Friedrich Miescher (discovered DNA in 1869 here as a student)). Distinguished alumni include Friedrich Hölderlin (poet), G.W.F.
