Founded in 2003, the University of Luxembourg is the country's ONLY public university and by far its flagship institution. Before 2003, Luxembourg had no full university — Luxembourgish students traditionally completed their degrees abroad (and many still spend time abroad). Approximately 7,000 students from ~130 nationalities — one of the MOST INTERNATIONAL universities in the world, reflecting Luxembourg's own highly international society. Distinctively MULTILINGUAL: programmes are taught in combinations of English, French, and German. A mandatory study-abroad mobility semester is built into most Bachelor's programmes — a unique feature. Despite its youth, the University of Luxembourg ranks among the world's top 'young universities' (under 50 years old) and is particularly strong in: law (with the EU institutions nearby), finance, computer science and cybersecurity, materials science, and space research (Luxembourg has a notable space-resources policy and industry). Main campus at Belval in Esch-sur-Alzette — built on a striking reclaimed former steelworks site (the blast furnaces are preserved as landmarks) — with additional sites in Luxembourg City (Limpertsberg, Kirchberg). ⚠️ NOTE: The University of Luxembourg was MISSING from the AlmiStudy collector file — added as critical curator entry given it is the country's only public university and flagship.
Always confirm a university's current accreditation with
the named national authority, and that the qualification is recognised in
the country where you intend to use it, before enrolling or paying any
fees. AlmiStudy records information to help you check — it is not an
endorsement.
Why this is free
AlmiStudy is part of AlmiWorld. It is free because its purpose is to
help people find their way to education — and the wider project
supports the Shamool Foundation, a free school for street children in
Lahore (60 students, lunch, books and uniforms provided).
