Founded 1957 as Universite Mohammed V, the first university of independent Morocco (independence 1956), named after King Mohammed V. Reorganised in 1993 into two separate universities (Mohammed V-Agdal and Mohammed V-Souissi). Re-unified as Mohammed V University of Rabat (UM5R) in 2014 under post-2014 HE reforms. Multi-campus across Rabat with faculties of sciences, letters and humanities, medicine and pharmacy, dentistry, law and economics, engineering (Ecole Mohammadia d'Ingenieurs / EMI), and information sciences. Languages of instruction: Arabic and French, with selected programmes in English.
