University of Mandalay (Mandalay University / မန္တလေးတက္ကသိုလ်)

Founded 1958 (chartered as a separate institution from Rangoon University; originally established as Intermediate College Mandalay 1925 affiliated with Rangoon University; granted full university status 1958 — the SECOND OLDEST UNIVERSITY in Myanmar and the OLDEST AND LARGEST university in Upper Myanmar). Myanmar's SECOND OLDEST UNIVERSITY (after University of Yangon 1920) and the OLDEST AND LARGEST university in Upper Myanmar. Located in Mandalay — the second-largest city in Myanmar and the cultural capital of Upper Myanmar (the last royal capital of the Konbaung dynasty before British annexation in 1885). Originally established 1925 as Intermediate College Mandalay affiliated with Rangoon University; granted full independent university status 1958. Public liberal arts and sciences university.
