Major Protestant university in Iloilo City — the FIRST PROTESTANT UNIVERSITY in Visayas and the OLDEST university in Western Visayas. Founded 1 October 1905 as Jaro Industrial School by the American Baptist Missionary Society (USA) on land donated by Eusebio Locsin. Affiliated with the Convention of Philippine Baptist Churches (CPBC). Renamed Central Philippine University in 1953 with university status. ~12,000+ students on the 25-hectare campus.
