Zimbabwe's second public university and premier STEM institution, located in Bulawayo (Matabeleland, southwestern Zimbabwe). Chartered 1991 by Act of Parliament with a mission to provide science and technology higher education and to serve as a counterweight to UZ's Harare concentration. Faculties: Applied Sciences, Built Environment, Commerce, Communication and Information Sciences, Industrial Technology, Medicine, and the Faculty of the Humanities and Social Sciences. Strong programmes in engineering, computer science, and applied sciences. Important regional anchor for southwestern Zimbabwe and the Ndebele-speaking Matabeleland region.
