Founded 1986 (chartered as Institute of Technology Brunei / ITB on 1 February 1986); elevated to full university status as Universiti Teknologi Brunei in 2008 by Royal Decree. Brunei's premier engineering and technology university, located at the Gadong campus in Bandar Seri Begawan. Founded 1 February 1986 as Institute of Technology Brunei (ITB) to address Brunei's need for engineering and applied-technology graduates for the oil-and-gas sector. Elevated to full university status as Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) in 2008 by Royal Decree. Faculties: Engineering, Computing and Informatics, Business, Applied Sciences and Mathematics, Design and Built Environment. STEM-focused with strong industry partnerships including Brunei Shell Petroleum, Petroleum Brunei, and international technology firms. Member of the Association of Southeast Asian Institutions of Higher Learning (ASAIHL) and the Association of Universities of Asia and the Pacific (AUAP). English-medium instruction.
