Founded in 1997, Åland UAS is the higher education institution of the autonomous Åland Islands — a unique demilitarised, Swedish-monolingual autonomous region of Finland with substantial self-government under a 1920 League of Nations settlement and the Åland Autonomy Act. Approximately 500 students. All instruction in Swedish. Located in Mariehamn. Note the domain: Åland uses .ax (its own ccTLD assigned in 2006), not .fi — unique among Finnish higher education.
Always confirm a university's current accreditation with the named national authority, and that the qualification is recognised in the country where you intend to use it, before enrolling or paying any fees. AlmiStudy records information to help you check — it is not an endorsement.

Why this is free

AlmiStudy is part of AlmiWorld. It is free because its purpose is to help people find their way to education — and the wider project supports the Shamool Foundation, a free school for street children in Lahore (60 students, lunch, books and uniforms provided).
