Founded in 1640 as the Royal Academy of Turku (Kungliga Akademien i Åbo) by Queen Christina of Sweden, relocated to Helsinki in 1828 after the Great Fire of Turku 1827 (under Russian rule by then). The University of Helsinki is the OLDEST university in Finland and consistently the country's #1 by all measures. Approximately 31,000 students across 11 faculties. QS World University Rankings typically top 70-115 globally. Finland's only LERU (League of European Research Universities) member. Notable alumni include Lars Ahlfors (Fields Medal 1936), Ragnar Granit (Medicine Nobel 1967), and most of Finland's political and intellectual leadership. Strong English-medium Master's programmes — Finland's deepest international academic offering.
Always confirm a university's current accreditation with the named national authority, and that the qualification is recognised in the country where you intend to use it, before enrolling or paying any fees. AlmiStudy records information to help you check — it is not an endorsement.

Why this is free

AlmiStudy is part of AlmiWorld. It is free because its purpose is to help people find their way to education — and the wider project supports the Shamool Foundation, a free school for street children in Lahore (60 students, lunch, books and uniforms provided).
