AccreditationAccreditation and Quality Assurance Commission for Higher Education Institutions (AQACHEI) — Jordan's national accreditation body. Formerly known as the Higher Education Accreditation Commission (HEAC); renamed and reorganised under Law No. 11 of 2020. Operates under the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR). Website still uses heac.org.jo domain after the rename. AQACHEI was awarded full 10-year Recognition Status by the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) in 2023, the first such recognition in the post-pandemic WFME programme.
Founded 1981 (chartered as Mu'tah University with both a civilian wing and a military wing — the military wing trains officers for the Jordanian Armed Forces; named after the Battle of Mu'tah (629 CE), the first encounter between Muslim and Byzantine forces). Major public university in Karak (southern Jordan), founded 1981 with a unique dual-wing structure: a CIVILIAN WING serving general students and a MILITARY WING training officer cadets for the Jordanian Armed Forces. Named after the Battle of Mu'tah (629 CE) — the first major encounter between Muslim forces and the Byzantine Empire, fought near Karak. Faculties span Medicine (most prestigious in southern Jordan), Engineering, Sciences, Arts, Education, Law, Sharia, Business, Agriculture, Aviation Sciences, and Military Sciences. The military wing produces most senior Jordanian Armed Forces officers.
Always confirm a university's current accreditation with
the named national authority, and that the qualification is recognised in
the country where you intend to use it, before enrolling or paying any
fees. AlmiStudy records information to help you check — it is not an
endorsement.
Why this is free
AlmiStudy is part of AlmiWorld. It is free because its purpose is to
help people find their way to education — and the wider project
supports the Shamool Foundation, a free school for street children in
Lahore (60 students, lunch, books and uniforms provided).
