Founded 1979. Public Islamic higher-education institute in Nouakchott, founded 1979. Coeducational, formally affiliated with the Islamic religion. Officially recognised by MESRS. Located adjacent (south) to the Lycée d'Arabe in Nouakchott. Programmes lead to officially recognised higher-education degrees in Islamic studies, Arabic language and literature, Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh), and related humanities. One of the foundational Islamic-studies institutions of the Maghreb.
