Founded 1981 as Université de Nouakchott; reorganised and renamed Université de Nouakchott Al-Aasriya in 2017 (absorbing the former Université des Sciences, de Technologie et de Médecine / USTM). Mauritania's flagship public university, located in Nouakchott (capital). Originally founded 1981 as Université de Nouakchott. In 2010 a separate Université des Sciences, de Technologie et de Médecine (USTM) was established for STEM and medical disciplines. In 2017 the two institutions were reorganised under a single name: Université de Nouakchott Al-Aasriya. The former USTM identity is now defunct and absorbed into UNA — prospective students should not seek USTM as a separate institution. UNA comprises Faculté des sciences et techniques, Faculté de médecine, Faculté des sciences juridiques et économiques, Faculté des lettres et des sciences humaines, and Institut universitaire professionnel. Primary languages of instruction are Arabic and French. Website not independently verified at build time.
Always confirm a university's current accreditation with the named national authority, and that the qualification is recognised in the country where you intend to use it, before enrolling or paying any fees. AlmiStudy records information to help you check — it is not an endorsement.

Why this is free

AlmiStudy is part of AlmiWorld. It is free because its purpose is to help people find their way to education — and the wider project supports the Shamool Foundation, a free school for street children in Lahore (60 students, lunch, books and uniforms provided).
