Amoud University

Founded 1998. Flagship public university of Somaliland, located in Borama (Awdal Region, north-west). Founded 1998 as the first university in Somaliland after the 1991 declaration of independence. Built on the historic Sheekh Secondary School site and traditions. Faculties span medicine, education, business administration, engineering, agriculture, computer and information technology, and Sharia and law. Operates under Somaliland Ministry of Education and Higher Studies regulation, separate from Federal Somalia accreditation framework. JURISDICTION NOTE: Somaliland declared independence from Somalia in 1991 and operates a de facto independent state, though not internationally recognised.
