Named after SHIRINSHO SHOTEMUR (1899-1937) — Tajik Bolshevik revolutionary, one of founders of Soviet Tajik SSR. Shotemur was PURGED + EXECUTED 1937 during Stalin's Great Purge (along with millions of Soviet victims). Posthumously rehabilitated post-Stalin. ~4,000+ students. Strong agriculture + veterinary + horticulture.
