Masherov, located in Vitebsk. Founded on 21 November 1910 as the Vitebsk Teachers' Institute, becoming a university in 1995. Named after Pyotr Masherov (1918-1980), Hero of the Soviet Union and First Secretary of the Communist Party of Belarus 1965-1980 (a Vitebsk-region native). Approximately 7,000 students from over 25 countries including Pakistan (active cooperation with Gazi University in Pakistan documented 2025). Largest higher education institution in northeastern Belarus.
