Founded in 1975, named after Josip Juraj Strossmayer (1815-1905) — the Catholic bishop of Đakovo who was a major patron of Croatian education and culture during the Habsburg era, and one of the founders of the Yugoslav Academy of Sciences and Arts in Zagreb (1866). Approximately 18,000 students. Serves Slavonia (eastern Croatia) and the Pannonian Plain region. 🕯️ Honest context: Slavonia and the Osijek region suffered heavily during the 1991-1995 Homeland War — Vukovar (50km east of Osijek) endured an 87-day siege in 1991 with city destruction and major civilian casualties. The university maintained operations through the war and is a symbol of post-war regional reconstruction.
Always confirm a university's current accreditation with
the named national authority, and that the qualification is recognised in
the country where you intend to use it, before enrolling or paying any
fees. AlmiStudy records information to help you check — it is not an
endorsement.
Why this is free
