Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHeS)

Founded 2021 (by merger of Kamuzu College of Nursing, est. 1979, and the College of Medicine, est. 1991, under the Kamuzu University of Health Sciences Act 20 of 2019, effective 4 May 2021 delinking from the University of Malawi). Malawi's comprehensive public health and allied sciences university, established 4 May 2021 through the delinking of two University of Malawi constituent colleges — Kamuzu College of Nursing (founded 1979) and the College of Medicine (founded 1991). Operates across two main campuses in Blantyre (Mahatma Gandhi Campus, with College of Medicine roots) and Lilongwe (Kamuzu Campus, with the nursing college roots), plus a satellite campus in Mangochi. Schools and programmes span medicine, nursing, midwifery, public health, mental health nursing, allied health professions, pharmacy, biomedical sciences, and health management. Quality Assurance Director Dr. Lucy Kululanga is a national figure in HE quality assurance (NCHE workshops). Named after Malawi's founding president Hastings Kamuzu Banda.
