Founded in 1975, the University of Banja Luka is the flagship public university of Republika Srpska — the Serb-majority entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina — and the second-largest in BiH. Approximately 16,000 students across 17 faculties. Primary language of instruction is Serbian (using both Latin and Cyrillic scripts). Banja Luka is the de facto capital of Republika Srpska. 🕯️ Honest context: Banja Luka was the site of ethnic cleansing of its prewar Bosniak and Croat populations during 1992-95, and several of the famous mosques destroyed during this period (including the 16th-century Ferhat-Pasha Mosque, rebuilt and reopened in 2016) remain landmarks of remembrance. The university today serves the Serb-majority population of the entity; institutional cooperation with Federation BiH universities exists but is limited.
Always confirm a university's current accreditation with
the named national authority, and that the qualification is recognised in
the country where you intend to use it, before enrolling or paying any
fees. AlmiStudy records information to help you check — it is not an
endorsement.
