Founded in 2000 from earlier polytechnic institutions, the University of Zenica serves central Bosnia from Zenica — historically Bosnia's principal steel and metallurgy centre (the Zenica Steelworks). Approximately 5,000 students. Strong programmes in metallurgical and mechanical engineering reflecting the city's industrial identity. Includes a Faculty of Islamic Pedagogy.
